Old Crow Medicine Show: Hardest Working Band in Bluegrass?
Old Crow Medicine Show is having an exciting rest of their 2012. First, the six-piece bluegrass band will be embarking on a tour of the United States, beginning on November 25, with a show in Memphis, TN, at Minglewood Hall. They’ll perform in the South and parts of the Midwest, and are making stops in New Orleans, four gigs in Texas, a show in Oklahoma City and two shows in Missouri. Things wrap up with a final performance in Tulsa, OK, on December 6, at Cain’s Ballroom. Chuck Mead will act as support for all shows. After that, the band begins a three-night residency, on December 8, 14 and 15, at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry – a true honor for any country music act. On December 31, the band returns to Nashville for a sold out New Year’s Eve show at the Ryman Auditorium with Pokey LaFarge.
Also slated for early next year, OCMS will play a stint of shows overseas, performing first in Dublin on January 30, then three dates in the UK—including Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester — before ending that tour with a performance in London at Shepherds Bush Empire on February 4. The band will also play on April 26, at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA. Bluegrass never sleeps!
