Orion Music Festival Will Return in 2013 – But Where?
The Orion Music Festival, once up in the air without a date or location, is finally starting to nail down some specifics. We recently learned that the festy will take place in Detroit (in the past it was held in Bader Field, NJ, but Hurricane Sandy forced them to relocate), and now they’ve released the lineup. Of course, we’ll get plenty of Metallica stage time, but you can also check out Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones, Tomahawk, Gogol Bordello and more. It might be surprising to hear that Bassnectar will also be taking the stage – wonder how all these old school rock n’ roll fans will take to his electronic jams. Full lineup can be found below.
Metallica have officially revealed the details for the 2013 edition of their Orion Music + More Festival. The festival will take place on June 8 and June 9 in Detroit, moving from the festival’s original location – Bader Field in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
An exact location for the festival has yet to be revealed as well as news on the lineup and ticketing. Once those details go live, we’ll be sure to bring you the news right here at SeatGeek. In the mean time, check out a promotional video below for the Orion Music + More Festival.

Orion Music + More Festival will return next year, for the second annual event hosted in Bader Field, NJ. Metallica – or as I like to call them: the band who ruined free music for everyone – created the festival, which first took place on June 23, 2012. Of course, with the devastation caused to Atlantic City by Hurricane Sandy earlier this year, rumors are still swirling as to where the shindig will take place. In a recent interview, Lars Ulrich said they were looking to keep it in New Jersey or at least on the East Coast.
Also yet-to-be-announced is the lineup. Last year, Metallica (obvi), Modest Mouse, The Gaslight Anthem, and Lucero were just some of headlining acts that took the stage at the two-day, three-stage event. Ticket prices for the event vary – last year, single-day passes were made available for $90 each, while two-day passes were $150. A VIP package was also available for $750, which included unlimited lounge seating, catered food servings, and a Saturday makeout session with Lars. JK on the makeout sesh, although you might want to kiss him after hearing this: According to the website, there are no hidden fees or service charges on these tickets.
