Here’s to the short-but-sweet—Particle has just announced plans for a short, month-long tour in which they’ll make stops from coast to coast across the U.S. The Sinclair in Boston, MA, will be Particle’s first stop (on January 9), followed by Burlington, VT; Syracuse, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; Columbus, OH (at Woodlands Tavern); Newport, KY; Chicago, IL; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; Des Moines, IA; Boulder, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Portland OR (at Aladdin Theatre); Eugene, OR; Seattle, WA; Arcata, CA; Sacramento, CA (at Harlow’s Night Club); and, finally, San Francisco, CA, a Great American Music Hall on February 6. No word on support for the tour just yet. For more information on ticketing, on-sale times, and the like, visit Particle’s website.

Particle formed in 2000 with guitarist Dave Simmons, keyboardist Steve Molitz, bassist Eric Gould, and drummer Darren Pujalet. Along with bands like The Disco Biscuits and Sound Tribe Sector 9, they’re considered groundbreakers in the genre of progressive livetronica—a fusion of rock, jazz, funk, and electronic music. Pre-2006, Particle’s music was completely instrumental. They describe their tunes as “space porn”, a term coined by a fan. The band has released three albums since 2000.
