Passion Pit Announce Fall, 2013 Tour Dates

It’s looking like round three for popular and critical indie darlings Passion Pit, who, having embarked on several series of shows last year, have now added a host of 2013 tour dates. The group’s four-month trek will span April-May, and will see the ensemble traveling throughout both North and South America. Chile’s up first, with Passion Pit scheduling two shows in the Latin American country for April 5 and 6. After they’ve happily had their fill of the southern hemisphere, the group will travel back up north for the rest of their tour, which (as of now) is scheduled to wrap up in Toronto, ON, on July 12.

One reason for Passion Pit’s newly extended concert series may have to do with the group’s previously announced obligations to appear at several popular music festivals. Among these are Coachella, Hangout Music Fest and Bonnaroo. Many of the dates on PP’s latest trek fall around and in between these festivals – because if you’re already traveling, why not make a tour of it? After having announced an extensive tour of North America in February and early March in cities like New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Denver and Salt Lake City, Passion Pit will follow up with appearances at Lollapalooza, but not in Chicago. As we previously reported, Lollapalooza will be headed to both Brazil and Chile next year and Passion Pit will be on the bill for the March 31 Lollapalooza Brazil and April 6 for the Lollapalooza Chile shows.

After making their way through a rough patch earlier this fall, canceling tour dates and standing behind lead singer Michael Angelakos as he struggled with unspecified health issues, Passion Pit have landed back on their feet. The popular indie ensemble will embark on a headlining tour next winter, with support from Matt & Kim. We’ve got the band’s latest concert dates below, as well as ticket info for their upcoming 2012 and new 2013 shows.

Although fans in Colorado and Salt Lake City are still waiting to hear when Passion Pit’s previously canceled shows will be rescheduled, international supporters of the group can see Michael Angelakos and co. live this November. The five-guy set from Massachusetts has announced a series of U.K. dates spanning November 16th to the 20th. The brief tour includes stops in Manchester, London, Birmingham, and the British equivalent to Passion Pit’s hometown, Cambridge. The concert schedule is as follows:

• November 16th: Manchester Academy
• November 18th: Cambridge Junction
• November 19th: Birmingham HMV Institute
• November 20th: London HMV Forum

Electropop band Passion Pit recently canceled a series of upcoming tour dates, citing frontman Michael Angelakos’ ongoing mental health issues and his need to complete an unspecified “procedure.”

The apologetic quintet posted the following note to fans on their official website yesterday:

Thanks to everyone for all of their love and support throughout these past couple weeks. While we’re excited to see you over the next two weekends at Lollapalooza, Osheaga and Outside Lands, we’re sorry to let you know that we need to postpone our upcoming weekday shows in Colorado and Salt Lake City in order for Michael to continue to improve his mental health and complete a procedure that week.

We know that this is disappointing to fans who were planning on coming to these shows, and we want you to know we’re doing everything we can to try and make it up to you. In fact, we are happy to announce three rescheduled dates from last week in Charlotte/Nashville/Knoxville– the shows will take place in September as part of our fall tour. And we’ll keep you posted on Colorado/Salt Lake City as soon as we can. Please visit the TOUR PAGE for a list of all current tour dates.
