Phil Collins is finally coming out of retirement. Despite recently undergoing back surgery, which may or may not allow him to even return to the drum kit, Collins spoke to Rolling Stone about being ready to get back on the road.

I don’t think I want a very long tour… But I would like to play the stadiums in Australia and the Far East, and that’s the only way to do that. But there’s a part of me that just wants to do theaters, so we’ll see.

When Collins initially retired back in 2010, it was to spend more time with his children. Now that they are a bit older, Collins says, “they want to see what their dad does. They love my music and I’d like to take them out so they can enjoy it.”

So it definitely seems that Collins is open to touring in the near future, but what instrument he will be playing is yet-to-be-determined. Though he’s still recovering from a back surgery, he says no matter what happens, he’ll always be able to get behind a piano and sing. That’s good enough for us, Phil.
