Phish Baker’s Dozen Photo Recap | July 28 & 30
It seems like only yesterday Phish was kicking off their Baker’s Dozen tour, a 13-show residency at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. Normally their home for four nights over New Year’s Eve weekend, the lengthy summer run was a first for the band and their fans. Now we’re already over halfway through the diabetes-inducing affair, with donut-themed nights ranging from strawberry to powdered, red velvet to–of course–jam filled.
We sent faithful photog Stephanie Port across the country to get in on the East Coast action, and she was there to witness two of the residency’s most exciting shows to-date. July 28 (night 6) was an evening filled with debuts, rarities and double-chocolate fun, with “You Sexy Thing, “Weigh” and “Fee” as some of the setlist highlights. The theme on July 30 (night 8) was rainbow jimmies, which naturally led into “Runaway Jim,” a cover of Jimi Hendrix’ “The Wind Cries Mary,” and “Harpua” (which chronicles the story of Jimmy), plus plenty of other onstage shenanigans between Trey and Mike.
Night 9 and the final week of Baker’s Dozen shows kick off this evening, with tonight’s donut flavor being maple glaze and cinnamon icing drizzle. Sure fans are betting on a “Sugar Shack,” but whatever else the band has in store will be a sweet, sweet surprise.
