New Phish Album in the Works
New Phish Album
In a recent interview on PBS NewsHour, Phish frontman Trey Anastasio finally revealed some information regarding the band’s new material. While Phish has traditionally been regaled more for their live performances and epic jams, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t eager for some new tunes. After all – though their catalogue includes a slew of live recordings – they haven’t released an actual studio album since 2009’s Joy. Anastasio didn’t let the cat too far out of the bag re: album deets, but did say they have all been working collaboratively on lyrics. This statement comes after a 2012 interview keyboardist Page McConnell gave to Rolling Stone, in which he said: “We’re going to try to create something that really comes from the four of us.”
Perhaps fans will get a sneak peak of what the boys have been working on when they hit the road for their annual summer tour, which kicks off July 3 in Bangor, ME. Also on the docket are stops at SPAC, The Gorge Amphitheatre, and the grand finale at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Commerce City, CO. Tickets for the shows are currently on sale, and you can check them out here.
