Placebo to Play First North American Tour in Nearly A Decade
U.K. rock outfit Placebo is out on tour supporting their latest album, Loud Like Love (it came out last year), and, for the first time in over seven years, they’re intent on crossing the pond for a North American tour. Things will kick off in Philadelphia, PA at Theatre of Living Arts on October 8 before heading to Silver Spring, MD; Brooklyn, NY (for the Escape Music Festival); Boston, MA; Montreal, QC; Toronto, ON; Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; and Los Angeles, CA, for a final date at Club Nokia on October 24. Short and sweet, there is no information about supporting acts just yet. Tickets for the tour are available now.
Formed in 1994 by Brian Molko and Steven Olsdol (the two attended the same school but only coincidentally met each other in a tube station), Placebo is known for their utilization of androgynous imagery in their music. The band has released seven studio albums, all of which have cracked the Top 20 in the United Kingdom. These include 1996’s Placebo; 2003’s Sleeping With Ghosts; 2009’s Battle for the Sun; and 2013’s Loud Like Love. Placebo has sold over 11 million records worldwide.
