Welcome to Podcast Tuesdays, where our D.C.-dwelling friends at MaDCap hook us up with the latest and greatest in the world of music and entertainment interviews. They recently sat down with Zeds Dead–a Canadian electronic music duo–to discuss their brand new EP, and what they’ve been up to over the last two years. So, what did we learn?

How do you approach the remix process?

It’s different every time. Sometimes you just feel like it’s gonna’ be this type of song and you just go with it. Sometimes it has to do with the speed… sometimes you might already have something that you tried putting the vocal over top of, and you just keep working with that. I think a lot of the time though, with stuff we’ve remixed in the past, it’s been stuff that’s inspired us with a big vocal. Like “Eyes on Fire.”

Your boy from The Killabits told me your greatest beats we’ll never hear. Is this true?

There’s a lot of great ideas… but it’s all about picking and choosing. And that’s where the collaborative process comes in cause it’s like ‘I don’t like this,’ or ‘I hate this,’ and we decide what we like and we go and finish it.

Are your families cool with each other, and do they ever come see you play?

Our fathers are pretty good friends, they hang out from time to time. They call each other Zeds Dads.
