Polaris to Release New Tunes, Play Second Concert Ever
Remember Polaris? No? Well, did you watch The Adventures of Pete & Pete in the early 1990s? Yep, you remember Polaris. Nickelodeon’s resident house band has only played once live before (for a charity show in 2012), but they’ve decided to give it a go and head out on tour. Dubbed “Waiting For October”, Polaris will play nine dates starting on October 4 at The Met in Providence, RI, and then going to New York, NY (at the Hammerstein Ballroom); Hamden, CT; Northampton, MA; Chicago, IL; Brooklyn, NY (at Knitting Factory); Baltimore, MD; and more. The tour coincides with Polaris’ first new music in 20 years (their only studio release came in 1999 with The Adventures of Pete & Pete soundtrack). Their new seven-inch single, “Happy Green Moon Face”, will be released soon. For more information about the tour, visit Polaris’ website.
Comprised of Mark Mulcahy, Scott Boutier, and Dave McCaffrey, Polaris is instantly recognizable to legions of Nickelodeon kids for “Hey Sandy”, the theme to The Adventures of Pete & Pete, as well as the rest of the music for the show. The band was a one-off musical projects from the trio’s band Miracle Legion.
