John C. Reilly and Others Joining Willie Nelson on 2012 Railroad Revival Tour
Unfortunately, the upcoming Railroad Revival Tour has been canceled. The festival posted the following statement on their website over the weekend:
- It is with extreme regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2012 Railroad Revival Tour. The decision to do so was a difficult one, but it was determined that certain complications would not permit us to host the shows in the manner intended, and that the bands and fans deserved.
No further word on what those prohibitive “complications” were, but organizers are working to process all refunds by October 21.

Railroad Revival Tour 2012 Tickets featuring Willie Nelson, Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson, and John C. Reilly & Friends
The Railroad Revival Tour bills itself as a tour that “transcends typical music tours or festivals and glorifies the historical romance between music and trains under the setting of the great American landscape.” The multiple artists on the tour pay homage to the nation’s many railways by traveling together in 16 vintage 1940s railcars, stopping along the railway at each stop to set-up makeshift venues at parks, fields, and lots. In its inaugural year last year, the tour made 6 stops and featured bands such as Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show.
This year, the headliner of the tour will be Willie Nelson. Joining him will be Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson, and John C. Reilly & Friends. Nelson is a country singer-songwriter, as well as author, poet, actor, and activist, and one of the most recognizable names in music. Nelson has released an astonishing 66 STUDIO ALBUMS, 9 of which have peaked at Number One on the USA Album charts. He has sold more than 40 million albums in the US alone, and is best known for Shotgun Willie (1973), Red Headed Stranger (1975), and Stardust (1978). In addition to his music, Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored many books, and been highly involved in activism for legalization of marijuana and use of biofuels.
Band of Horses is a Seattle-based rock band that is most famous for their 2010 Grammy-nominated album Infinite Arms. Their fourth studio album, Mirage Rock, is due out in September of 2012. Jamey Johnson is an American country artist who has released 4 studio albums, most recently The Guitar Song in 2010 which reached as high as Number 4 on the album charts. He is also scheduled to release his next album this September. Both groups will most likely be performing songs from their new albums on the Railroad Revival Tour.
John C. Reilly may best be known for his work as an actor in comedies such as Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, but he has also carved out a pretty successful career for himself as a musical artist. In “Dewey Cox”, which was meant to be portray a Johnny Cash-type character, Reilly performed all of his own vocals. He subsequently went on tour in 2007 playing as the fictional Cox in the Cox Across America Tour. In 2011, he released two singles of his own.
Railroad Revival Tour 2011: Big Easy Express DVD
A documentary chronicling the journey of those involved in the inaugural 2011 Railroad Revival Tour was produced by filmmaker Emmett Malloy. The film, entitled Big Easy Express, illustrated the “camaraderie” experienced by the various artists as they traveled together. It premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award.
