Refused Gets The Band Back Together…Again
Swedish hardcore punk band Refused called it quits in the late 1990s, only to reunite 14 years later in 2012 (even though they explicitly said they wouldn’t). Though the band has remained pretty much inactive since their last reunion tour date, they’re giving it another go—Refused recently announced the departure of guitarist Jon Brännström, and now they’ve plotted out some tour dates for 2015. They’re all festival appearances, but with positive festival appearances come world tour dates, eh? Refused will play sets at Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, QC; Reading Festival in Reading, UK; Leeds Festival in Leeds, UK; and Groezerock in Meerhour, BE; all taking place this summer. For tickets, visit each festival’s respective website. For more information about Refused and their newly ignited touring plans, visit their website
Formed in 1991 by Dennis Lyxzén, David Sandström, Pär Hansson, and Jonas Lindgren, Refused released five EPs and three full-length studio albums before cutting the cord in 1998. The band’s music is typically seen as left-wing, with politically far-left and anti-capitalist lyrics, and their anti-establishment profile is thought to have shaped the sounds and minds of younger, similar bands.
