For anyone who missed Roger Waters’ ambitious (to put it mildly) 2012 North American tour, in which the former Pink Floyd bassist/vocalist performed the entirety of the seminal album, The Wall, at each performance, have no fear – the unflagging sexagenarian is at it again. This time around, the lucky continent soon to be graced with a theatrical re-imagining of Wall is Rogers’ European homeland. The tour kicks off in Belgium next July, and will stop at several destination cities – Rome, Copenhagen and Vienna among them – before wrapping up in Dublin two months later, on September 18.
Having been at the variable recording, performing and touring game for almost 50 years, Roger Waters can comfortably call himself a Rock Legend – or at least, we will. Pink Floyd, the little band he helped found in 1965, is one of the most acclaimed acts in the history of rock n’ roll, a group whose enduring popularity can still be felt in the thousands of modern fans who continue to pack houses along Waters’ nostalgia tours. Although he famously announced last summer’s show in Quebec would be his last, ever, clearly the pull of stadiums filled with people singing along to his songs proved too much. That is, at least for now – don’t miss your chance to see Roger Waters live on tour, in case this time around, final really means just that!
