Sam Smith Announces 2014 World Tour
Breakout British crooner Sam Smith has just announced his 2014 world tour, which will be kicking off just as his hotly anticipated debut album will hit stores. Smith will start in London on May 30 and, after a couple more shows in the UK, land stateside to the play the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee on July 13. He’ll then jet back to Europe for series of shows and festivals — highlights include the Optimus Alive! Festival in Lisbon, the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire, and the Bestival at the Isle of Wight. Smith will return to the U.S. on September 15 with a show at the House of Blues in Boston, followed by a run through the Northeast and then a couple shows in Canada (as well as concert in Chicago).
He’ll play the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on September 25 and then make his way down the West Coast. Afterwards, Smith will play a couple shows in the South (Atlanta on October 6 and Nashville on October 7) and then make a run through Texas before heading back across the Atlantic to the UK. He’ll play Glasgow on October 23, Birmingham on October 27 and Manchester on October 29 and 30, among other shows. Smith will close out the tour with a pair of shows at the Eventim Apollo on November 6 and 7.
Twenty-two-year-old singer/songwriter Sam Smith first broke onto the British pop music scene in 2012 when he was featured in the UK electronica group Disclosure’s hit “Latch” and again in 2013 when was featured Naughty Boy’s hit single “La La La”. Smith released his first EP, Nirvana, in the fall of 2013 and his first full length studio album, In the Lonely Hour, is scheduled to drop on June 17.
