British crooner Sam Smith has really gone from zero to sixty in the past year, hasn’t he? Riding the momentum of his smash debut album, In the Lonely Hour, Smith has announced plans for a North American tour, to be played in arenas throughout the continent. He’ll start things off at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, on January 9. Next, Smith will visit Nashville, TN, (play the Grand Ole Opry); Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY (at Madison Square Garden); Boston, MA; Montreal, QC; Toronto, ON; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA (at the Forum); San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA, among others, before culminating in a show at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, on February 4. Sam Smith has been singing his whole life—he’s an alumnus of Youth Music Theatre UK and starred in their 2007 production of Oh! Carol!. Smith rose to fame not as a solo star but as a featured singer both on Disclosure’s breakthrough tune, “Latch”, and Naughty Boy’s “La La La”, which became his first No. 1 single. In 2014, Smith was awarded the BRIT Critic’s Choice Award and BBCs Sound of 2014 honors.
