Sammy Hagar & The Circle will tour with Whitesnake this summer. The former frontman of Van Halen will share the stage with his fellow ’80s rockers, and both acts will be supported by opening act Night Ranger. Hagar described the tour as a chance to go toe-to-toe with Whitesnake to see who can win over the crowd each night.

“I love some friendly competition onstage and that’s exactly what this is going to be,” Hagar revealed in a statement shared by Rolling Stone. “David [Coverdale] and I have nothing but the highest respect for one another, but we would also like to blow the other guy off the stage!”

The tour starts on July 9 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. The bands travel through the south on the first leg, hitting PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte and Bristow’s Jiffy Lube Live on their way to shows in upstate New York. After a brief break, the tour restarts in the Midwest. The tour takes another break before a Western leg that includes dates at Sunlight Supply Amphitheater in Washington and Phoenix’s Ak-Chin Pavilion. The tour wraps with a show at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California on September 20.
