Seattle-based hip-hop pair Shabazz Palaces have just released an album, Lese Majesty, and they’re setting up a tour to go along with it. They kicked it off with a two shows on July 29 (an in-store at Amoeba Music in San Francisco, CA and a night show at The New Parish in Oakland, CA), and from the Bay Area, they’re traveling to Hollywood, CA; Seattle, WA; Brooklyn NY (at Commodore Barry Park); Carrboro, NC; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Bloomington, IN; Austin, TX; and Lincoln, NE. The last stop on the American leg of the tour will be in Boulder, CO at Fox Theatre on September 22. After Colorado, the duo will head across the pond to charm European audiences. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.

Born in Seattle, Shabazz Palaces is an experimental hip-hop group comprised of former Digable Planets member Ishmael Butler (aka Palaceer Lazaro) and instrumentalist Tendai ‘Baba’ Maraire. The group anonymously released two EPs—Eagles Soar, Oil Flows and The Seven New—before being signed to Sub Pop. Their full-length debut, Black Up, was released to wide critical acclaim in 2011.
