Seattle-based hip-hop group Shabazz Palaces have announced dates for a world tour, which began last week and will run through February 1. It kicked off on November 2 in Denmark, after which the band will continue their jaunt through Europe until a final show in Ireland on November 16. After that it’s off to the U.S. for a January 18 show in Seattle, WA, followed by a string of Florida gigs. Shabazz will also play some shows below the Mason Dixon line before wrapping things up in Chicago, IL, at The Shrine. For the first leg of the tour they will be joined by THEESatisfaction (also from Seattle), and for the second leg you can catch indie rockers The Helio Sequence opening.

Shabazz Palaces formed in 2009, at which time the two founding members – Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire – self-released two EPs, before becoming the first hip-hop act to sign to Sub Pop records. It was there that they finally recorded their debut LP, Black Up, which was listed in the Seattle Times as #1 on a “Local Top #10” list of 2011.
