Sinéad O’Connor has been making more headlines than music as of late, but that’s about to change. She’s fresh off a two-night stint as part of the Lincoln Center Festival at the Alice Tully Hall, where the former/current/maybe former Catholic sang African-American gospel music from the 1950s (but hasn’t she always been an enigma?). Lucky for her fans, Sinéad is continuing on this live performance streak. She’s just announced that she’ll tour North America this fall, stopping for a few dates at Chicago’s City Winery (as well as the one in New York City); Buffalo, New York; Tarrytown, New York; and more. Tickets to see this pope-ripping lass go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, July 31 at 10AM.

A bit of history on O’Connor: born in Ireland in 1966, she rose to fame in the late 1980s/early 1990s with a cover of Prince‘s “Nothing Compares 2 U”. She’s been a lightning rod for controversy after expressing her views on the Catholic religion, abortion, women’s rights, war, child abuse, and more.
