Skream Taking New Dubstep Concept on the Road
Skream, one of the most important names in the dubstep genre, is taking his “Skreamizm” concept on tour. Skream – whose real name is Oliver Jones – announced the idea of “Skreamizm” last week. It’s a back-to-basics approach to dubstep nightclubs, incorporating a dark room and powerful sound systems. Now he’ll take said concept to different cities throughout Europe, with several supporting acts such as Krystal Klear, Jackmaster and Jacques Greene coming along for the ride. The tour begins on September 15 at Le Bikini in Toulouse and wraps up on November 30 in Manchester.
Skream began producing music at the age of 15. In 2006 he released his debut album, Skream!, which was right around the same time that dubstep began to make the crossover into more mainstream outlets. In 2010 he released the album Outside the Box, which SPIN Magazine rated 7 out of 10. Skream is often recognized as one of the founding fathers of the dubstep genre.
