Smashing Pumpkins Update

In addition to their previously announced run of U.S. shows, the Smashing Pumpkins have just announced dates for a massive world tour. After wrapping things up in America on May 18 at Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH, the trio will head overseers for a run of shows in Germany, France, Spain and the UK. Those shows kick off on June 20 at Live Music Hall in Cologne, GE, followed by two festival appearances in the country: first at Southside Festival and then Hurricane Festival. The tour is actually chock full o’ festy performances, including a stint at Rock in Roma on July 14 in Rome, and Gurten Festival on July 20 in Switzerland. The world tour wraps up with a two-day performance – spanning August 10 & 11 – at Summer Sonic in both Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.

Previous Smashing Pumpkins News

With a brief run in the United Kingdom already scheduled for July (see our original post below), the Smashing Pumpkins are starting to line up some dates here in the United States during the spring months. A collection of headlining gigs and festival dates, the U.S. concerts are hopefully a prelude of more to come before they embark on their European tour in June. The band is scheduled to play headlining gigs on May 2 in St. Augustine, FL, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre; May 7 in Raleigh, NC, at the Red Hat Amphitheater; May 8 in Charlotte, NC, at the Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheatre and May 10 in Atlanta, GA, at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre. Tickets for these shows have yet to go on sale.

As for festival dates, the band will play the Funshine Music Festival on May 3 in Tampa, FL, at the Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Also on the lineup for the three day festival are Train, Gary Allan, The Wallflowers and many more bands and artists. Tickets for the festival are on sale now. Highlighting their current festival plans to date is their appearance at the Beale Street Music Festival this summer in Memphis, located at Tom Lee Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The festival, set to take place on May 3 through May 5, will also feature Bassnectar, Alice in Chains, Jake Bugg, The Black Keys and many, many more acts. Smashing Pumpkins Tour

After touring throughout 2012, the Smashing Pumpkins are starting to put together some tour plans for 2013. The band, led by front man Billy Corgan, announced today their plans to play three gigs in the United Kingdom in July.

Corgan is actually the lone remaining band member from their original lineup from when they formed in 1988. Since then, the band has won two Grammy awards, while being nominated a total of 10 times. As for the UK shows, they will take place as follows: July 1 in Manchester at the Manchester Academy; July 2 in Glasgow at the O2 Academy; and July 22 in London at Wembley Arena.
