Snoop Lion Reveals Trippy New Single – Now When’s The Tour?

In a piece of news no one who’s been following pop-culture headlines lately will find surprising, Snoop Dogg will star in his own autobiographical documentary, Reincarnated. Following the success of Katy Perry’s concert film, Part of Me, last summer, and the probable success of Beyonce’s upcoming HBO doc, Life is But a Dream, the superstar’s turn in front of the camera is pretty well-timed. Reincarnated, which chronicles the rapper’s transformation from Dogg to Lion, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this past September, and has been picked up for limited release beginning March 15th.

The artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg has revealed the first pair of tour dates under his new moniker, Snoop Lion. The newly minted Rastafarian will touch down in India in early January, performing in Pune on the 11th and Gurgaon on the 13th. To say that Snoop Lion’s reincarnation into a reggae artist has mellowed the former Dogg out is to put it mildly. The rapper-turned-Rastafarian recently released the first single off his new album, the TBD Reincarnated, and it’s a long ways from his Sensual-Seduction-with-a-side-of-Gin-And-Juice days. Less intent on provoking than enjoying a wholesome good time with pre-pubescents, Snoop’s “La La La” features the superstar donning Mufasa headgear and jamming out on a trippy soundstage reminiscent of H.R. Pufnstuf – if the ’70s children’s show were set in Jamaica, and upped its cast of scantily clad women from approximately none to numerous (so maybe Snoop’s change isn’t all that dramatic…) Click here for Snoop Lion Tickets, Tour Dates This latest peek into the newly modified psyche of one of rap’s greats has got us very, very curious about his new album – and subsequent promotional tour! Will the cute little bumblebee girl join the Lion on stage? Will Major Lazer (the video’s producer) expand his vision of an-adult-at-the-children’s-table into an even more impressive lighting & stage show?
