UPDATE: Bonnaroo

Wilco has other festival plans in the works for the summer other than their own Solid Sound Festival. The band, who currently are making plans for their June event, will be on the Bonnaroo bill with acts such as Paul McCartney, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Mumford & Sons, Wu Tang Clan, R. Kelly and many, many others.

Set to take place June 13 through June 16 in Manchester, Tennessee, the festival consistently is regarded as one of the best music festivals each year, receiving awards from publications like GQ and Rolling Stone Magazine.

Returning with its alt-rock darlings and host of comedians, the Solid Sound Festival has booked the dates for its third-annual summer event. The weekend of June 21-23 will see classic rockers and festival organizers Wilco, several of their side projects (including The Autumn Defense and Nels Cline & Julian Lage), Foxygen, and the unabatedly buzzy Yo La Tengo taking over Northampton, MA, as they once again set up residency at MassMoCa (or the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, to the uninitiated/non-Northern residents of the country).

The artsy shindig went on hiatus last year, after two successful runs in 2010 and 2011. As if to make up for lost time, new “food events” have been added to 2013’s offerings: “Food and spirits of the Berkshires” will be made available to festival-goers, with proceeds benefitting MassMoCa’s charitable education programs. Unsurprisingly, Wilco bills the festivities as a “three-day celebration of… community,” with many locals professing their enthusiasm on the Solid Sound website (“So stoked–this is the highlight of the summer for me and my friends;” “This is one classy event;” “Just bought tix for the whole family. Starting our vacation right!”).
