Following the vague announcement that they’ll be releasing a still-unnamed album in the next few month, Austin-based rockers Spoon have just revealed their full tour schedule for this summer. The guys have already played through shows in Tennessee and will be hitting Atlanta and New Orleans this weekend. From there, they’ll jet to Europe for shows in Spain, Berlin, London and Portugal; returning stateside to play the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York on June 7. After a run through Canada and Minnesota, the band will play a series of shows in Las Vegas from June 26 to 28 and then the Ride Festival in Telluride, CO, on July 12 and 13. After shows in Louisville, Seattle and Chicago, they’ll play up the west coast from Los Angeles to Portland, OR, and then it’s a couple shows in Raleigh, NC, and Boston in September. They’ll finish up the tour at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 3 and 10.
After earning indie cred with their first few albums in the late nineties and early 2000s, Spoon managed to break into mainstream commercial success with their maturing mix of punk and rock thanks in large part to their songs finding their way onto the soundtracks for numerous movies, TV shows, and commercials. Their last album, 2010’s Transference debuted at number 4 on Billboard’s top 200 and was cited on numerous critics’end of the year “best of lists.”
