(Update 11/27/17)
Christmas has come early for Bruce Springsteen fans, as the musician has extended his “Springsteen on Broadway” run yet again. Due to overwhelming popularity, the show–originally extended into early February–will now stay up through the end of June. This means there will be 80 total performances by the time the show comes to a close at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Because so many fans originally registered through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan program during the original on-sale, there will be no additional registrations this time around. Tickets to the newly added shows go on sale December 19. Not a verified fan or don’t want to wait that long to see the Boss? (Original Post 8/10/17)
The Boss is taking his act from the concert stage to the Broadway stage. The iconic rocker has just announced an eight-week residency at the Walter Kerr Theatre slated for the fall. The gig will be called, fittingly, “Springsteen on Broadway” with the official opening set for October 12 and previews starting October 3.
The performance will run five nights a week and is going to be a mixture of music and spoken word. Expect intimate solo performances plus selections from his 2016 autobiography Born to Run. Of the upcoming residency, Springsteen said in an official statement:
“I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theater is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years… My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music… Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work.”
The last performance is slated for November 26. Check below for info on tickets and the official show schedule.
