Soul, Southern Charm, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones 2014 Tour
St. Paul & the Broken Bones Tour
Add a little bit of soul, gritty rhythm, and lots of feeling and you have the perfect recipe for a great sound. Put a hint of Southern charm in that mix and you’ll get St. Paul and the Broken Bones, a soul band from Birmingham, AL. Singer Paul Janeway says their sound draws inspiration from Al Green, Sam Cooke, and James Brown, and was the result of being raised in a gospel-sounding, Pentecostal church. Their debut album, Half the City, is set to be released on February 18, but you don’t have to wait until then to hear these guys. Their extensive tour, which will last over two months, will hit almost every major city in the United States and even some festivals along the way.
It makes sense that the Southern band would start their tour down South. Catch them at the start of their tour on February 4 in Gainesville, FL, at Club Downunder. The tour will make its way up North and hit Chicago on March 1 at Lincoln Hall. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see the band at SXSW starting on March 12, or at the Old Settlers Music Festival starting on April 10, both in Austin, TX. They’ll hit both coasts starting out East stopping at Great Scott in Boston, MA, on March 30, and making their way to Portland, OR, at Mississippi Studios on April 20. The tour will come to a halt on April 24 at Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA.
