Everybody’s favorite Rastafarian, Stephen Marley, has announced a U.S. tour slated to run through the second half of September into the first week of October. This comes off the heels of an uber-successful European tour, in which Marley sold out 9 weeks’ worth of performances. Not too shabby for the eight-time Grammy-winning artist, and son of revolutionary reggae singer Bob Marley. You can catch this dread-headed dream starting on September 14 in Pinnacle, NC, at the Jomeokee Music Festival. He’ll travel to cities such as Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and finally finish up in West Hollywood on October 7.
Marley was born in Wilmington, DE, but was raised primarily in Kingston, Jamaica. He performs with Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers (with siblings Ziggy, Cedella and Sharon). He also works with brother Damien – another reggae artist – most notably on Damien’s 2005 release, Welcome to Jamrock. Besides singing, performing and producing music, Stephen has made countless guest appearances with other artists. He recorded a version of “No Woman No Cry” with The Fugees, sang a song called “In Love With You” with Erykah Badu, and even did a track with Nelly for his 2004 album, Sweat. Stephen’s latest release, Revelation: Pt. 1 – The Root of Life, came out in May 0f 2011, and earned the artist a Grammy for best reggae album.
