English multi-instrumentalist rocker Steve Winwood has announced that he’ll be touring the US in the Spring. The former Traffic band member will start off at the State Theatre in Minneapolis on April 17. He’ll then go on to play the Chicago Theatre on April 18, followed by the performances in Milwaukee and Detroit. He’ll play the Space At Westbury in Westbury, NY, on April 23 and then head South — playing the State Theatre in New Brunswick on April 27 and the Lyric Theatre in Baltimore on April 28. He’ll close out the tour on May with show at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

First gaining notice as a member of Spencer Davis Group in the late ‘60s (which he joined when he was just 14), Steve Winwood became a mainstay of the English rock scene, most famously collaborating with Eric Clapton on several projects and fronting the rock group Traffic (although he’s also been a member of several other bands). But Winwood’s biggest success has come as a solo artist with several certified platinum albums, including 1986’s Back in the High Life and 1988’s Roll with It.
