A recent performance on PBS’s Front and Center has inspired Steven Tyler to set out on an intimate solo tour. Dubbed the Out on a Limb Tour, the Aerosmith frontman will be performing classic hits plus new tunes, while giving the histories behind them. Of the tour’s concept, Tyler told USA Today:

What would I not pay to go see McCartney, but instead of playing with whoever he’s with now, actually do [a show] where he tells you what he was thinking when he wrote ‘Yesterday’? That’s what I’m doing. I figured I’d talk about ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Dream On’ and where I was when I wrote it, and ‘Seasons of Wither’ and how I played it.

The tour begins on July 2 with a show at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, followed by stops in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Nashville and Boston. The final gig takes place on September 13 in Toronto, ON, at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. He’ll be joined by his band, Loving Mary, for the duration of the trek.
