Stone Temple Pilot fans, get excited. The alt-rock quartet is releasing their first acoustic album, Perdida on February 7, 2020, and will be going on tour in support of their latest release. The tour kicks off two days before the album drops at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC. The impressive 26-show tour then makes its way West, with 2 dates in California, and stops in other cities such as Portland, OR and Boise, ID. Eventually they hit the East coast, with two dates in New York City at the Gramercy Theatre and Madison Theatre, respectively. The last leg of the tour includes 11 shows in Australia, with their final performance scheduled to take place at Foreshore Park in Newcastle. Bush and Live will be opening for STP at certain shows throughout their 2020 tour.
Perdida follows the band’s self-titled release that dropped in March of 2018. This was the first record with the band’s new frontman and lead singer, Jeff Gutt. The upcoming record also marks 28 years since the band debuted their first full length studio album Core in 1992. More recently, STP released a 25th anniversary edition of their LP, Purple in October. Throughout the years, they have maintained a faithful fanbase, while also preserving their signature hard-hitting sound.
While Perdida is a fully acoustic album, the band noted in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that this is something they’ve been wanting to create for a long time.
“Most of our songs start acoustically, and we felt these would come across in the most genuine way if we kept them that way,” shared bassist Robert DeLeo. He also noted that the album’s title, Perdida, translates to “loss” in Spanish, hinting at a more raw, vulnerable sound on the album.
Perdida is available for pre-order now, and tickets for their upcoming tour go on sale December 6. Check out a full list of tour dates below.
