Fans looking for a visual component to Sturgill Simpson‘s Sound & Fury don’t have to look far. The increasingly psychedelic troubadour released a companion anime with soundtracked by the album on Netflix. As of right now, however, people who want to see Simpson on stage have to be lucky enough to grab a ticket to one of his super-intimate club shows.

Simpson explained the vibe of those shows in a recent stop on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast:

“We haven’t played in a year and we’re going back and working up material we recorded two-and-a-half years ago,” Simpson said. “We don’t really rehearse, we just knock the rust off. It takes us three or four shows just to know what the fuck is happening.”

Once he shakes it off, Simpson said there will be a larger tour behind his album. He plans to take along Tyler Childers (who notched a chart-topper with the Simpson-produced “Country Squire”) once Childers comes off his current trek. He said that they are planning a US tour “starting in mid-to-late February.”
