The Black Keys Headline The Other Ball for Charity
The Black Keys at The Other Ball
Ohio rock duo The Black Keys have been announced as the headliner for “The Other Ball,” a benefit concert for Arms Around the Child. The Black Keys will be the biggest name on the long list for The Other Ball lineup; the concert, to be held December 10 in New York City’s Highline Ballroom, will also feature the music of Miguel, A$AP Rocky, Mikky Ekko and Lykke Li. Samantha Ronson will be the DJ for the evening, entertaining the crowd in between sets and setting the stage for The Black Keys to blow the doors of the venue before everyone calls it a night. Tickets for the evening range between $2,000 & $20,000 (!!!), but that high-price tag for a black-tie (or black leather, if the tux is too stuffy for you) is going toward a great cause. Arms Around the Child benefits children who have lost their parents to AIDS or suffered from some sort of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

The Black Keys, of course, are the six-time Grammy Award winning rockers who have almost single-handedly kept a harder rock vibe on the arena scene for the past few years. Featuring a raw sound rooted in blues rock, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have used the last decade to migrate their music out of the garage and onto some of the biggest stages of the American concert scene. The Black Keys show at The Other Ball won’t be on the physical scale these guys produced on The El Camino Tour, but the impact for the fans on the hand and the folks who will benefit from a nonprofit like Arms Around the Child will be just as real.
