The Black Keys ‘Turn Blue,’ Announce North American Tour
Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney (aka the Black Keys) don’t do anything halfway, so when it came time to announce plans for their new North American tour (in support of their newest album, Turn Blue), they decided to stage a fake press conference instead–in lieu of a press release, of course. So what did we learn? The tour will kick off in June, but will only turn Stateside on September 5 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH. Then, the band will continue through Grand Rapids, MI; Milwaukee, WI; Louisville, KY; Detroit, MI; Pittsburgh, PA; Toronto, ON; New York, NY; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Montreal, QC; Chicago, IL; and more, before a final date in Kansas City, MO at the Sprint Center. Support for the tour comes in the way of Jake Bugg, St. Vincent, and Cage the Elephant, depending on the day.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale on Tuesday, May 13, and the general on sale date is Friday, May 16. Formed in 2001 in Akron, OH, The Black Keys self-produced and recorded their music in basements before striking out into the commercial world. They’ve released eight studio albums and won seven Grammy Awards out of twelve nominations.
