Stiff ‘Competition’: The Dodos Hit The Road
The Dodos are set to release Individ, their sixth studio album, on January 27 via Polyvinyl Records (the first single, “Competition,” is out now). To drum up support for the album, they’re heading out on a lengthy tour. The whole thing kicks off at Harlow’s in Sacramento, CA, on February 10, and it will continue through Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Dallas, TX; New Orleans, LA; Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; Brooklyn, NY (at Music Hall of Williamsburg); Boston, MA; Chicago, IL (at Lincoln Hall); Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC; Boise, ID; Salt Lake City, UT; and Austin, TX (at South by Southwest Music Festival), among others. American Football will provide support on selected dates. For information on ticketing and on-sale times, visit The Dodos’ website.
Formed in 2005 by Meric Long and Logan Kroeber, The Dodos self-released their first album, Beware of the Maniacs, in 2006 under the name Dodo Bird. As the album picked up critical and fan attention, Dodo Bird was increasingly referred to just as “The Dodos.” The name stuck, and the band changed their moniker accordingly.
