The Gaslight Anthem Announce New Album, Tour
Jersey-born-and-bred rock band The Gaslight Anthem have just announced plans for a new album. Set to be released on August 19 via Island Records, Get Hurt is their fifth album to date and the first 2012’s Handwritten. Frontman Brian Fallon told Rolling Stone that the album is “completely different than anything we had ever done before,” so we’re looking forward to hearing their new sound. Following with tradition, the band is going on a North American tour this fall to promote their new release. It kicks off on September 10 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, before continuing through Philadelphia, PA; Holmdel, NJ; Ottawa, ON (for the Ottawa Folk Festival); Los Angeles, CA; Tulsa, OK; Austin, TX (for both weekends of Austin City Limits); Kansas City, MO; and Chicago, IL. The tour culminates in a show in Pittsburgh, PA on October 17 at Stage AE. Supporting The Gaslight Anthem along the way will be Against Me!. Tickets for some shows are on sale now, so check the band’s website for on-sale dates and times for your city.
Another one of the many acts that call New Jersey home, The Gaslight anthem, of course, counts The Boss (aka Bruce Springsteen) among their many influences. Also on the list? Joe Strummer, The Replacements, and Tom Petty.
