Indie-rockers The Raveonettes are making waves. Not only did the Danish duo recently appear on The Late Show with David Letterman, but they also just kicked off their tour with Melody’s Echo Chamber. The tour is in support of their new album, Observator, and began last week on October 5 at NYC’s Webster Hall. Also on the docket are stops in DC, Boston and California, before moving overseas to Europe on October 20. They will play multiple shows in the UK, including stops in Leeds, Glasgow and London.

The Raveonettes got their start in 2001, when the two founding members – Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo –met in Copenhagen. They began recording their debut album, Whip It On, which went on to be named “Best Rock Album of the Year” at the Danish Music Awards in 2003. They were first discovered by a Rolling Stone editor at the SPOT festival, which led to a $2 million record deal at Columbia Records. In their 11 years together, the band has released six full-length albums, with their most recent peeking at No. 7 on the Denmark music charts, and number 110 in the U.S.
