The Strokes have been out of the spotlight for the last decade. The indie rockers who led a mini-revolt of guitar-based bands in the early Aughts were uncharacteristically quiet in the ’10s. That’s all going to change in 2020, as The Strokes are planning a new album and a mini-tour in the spring. Julian Casablancas shared the news on New Year’s Eve, telling a concert crowd that the Strokes were helping start this decade the way they did 20 years prior.

“Yeah, we’ve got a new album coming out soon! 2020, here we come,” he said from the stage. “The 2010s, whatever the fuck they’re called, we took ‘em off. And now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back. If you really love someone, you’ll be frozen with them.”

The tour starts in Vancouver at the Rogers Arena on March 5. A run down the West Coast follows, with shows at Seattle’s WaMu Theater and Los Angeles’ Forum. After a grip of overseas shows, the band returns to the States for festival dates at III Points and Shaky Knees. The tour will feature support from Alvvays and King Princess.
