UPDATE: V Festival

The Vaccines have been confirmed on the bill of this year’s V Festival. Held annually in the United Kingdom, the festival takes place at two parks simultaneously and share the same bill – those parks being Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire. Bands and artists perform at one location on Saturday and then swap on Sunday.

Set to take place August 17 and August 18, the festival dates add to the evolving festival plans for the band from London.

Other acts on the bill include the headliners, Beyonce and Kings of Leon, Two Door Cinema Club, Emeli Sandé, Jason Mraz, Fun., Ellie Goulding, Kendrick Lamar and many more.

UPDATE: RockNess 2013

This coming Summer, The Vaccines will be hitting the festival circuit in Europe and one of their first confirmations was revealed earlier in the week.

Along with The Maccabees, Jessie Ware and Elle Goulding, the band will be playing RockNess, the Scottish festival set to take place June 7 through June 9 at Loch Ness in Scotland.

The festival first started in 2006 and has grown in size every year. Last year, the festival featured Mumford & Sons and Deadmau 5 among many other acts on the bill.

In a rather low profile update on The Vaccines front, the band announced today their plans to play a gig at a very small venue in Southampton with all proceeds going to charity.

The venue, called The Joiners, is a 150 seat capacity venue that Coldplay, Radiohead and Oasis all played in their early days. Having fallen on hard times and struggling to stay afloat financially, the venue has reached out to The Vaccines to stage a show. The band, which was recently nominated for the Best British Live Act award at The Brit Awards, will play the venue on January 22.

A noble deed for a band to remember their roots and put on a great show for a good cause for music fans in Southampton.

After keeping you informed of The Vaccines’ ever-expanding UK tour, we’ve got some good news for the group’s US fans: American concert dates! The rockers will head out on January 29 for a 12-show run, which kicks off in Boston at The Paradise, before hitting up major cities along the East Coast, Midwest and West Coast through mid-February.

Several weeks ago (see below), we gave you the heads up on The Vaccines show in 2013 at the O2 Arena in London. Now, they are expanding their 2013 tour plans in the United Kingdom with four more new dates.

Starting at the Winter Gardens in Margate on May 1, The Vaccines will then play the aforementioned London show on May 2, Sands Centre in Carlisle on May 4 and Millenium Square in Leeds on May 5. The tour will then wrap up on May 6 at the Cymru Arena in Llandudno, Wales.

The Vaccines are taking their British indie rock to North America with a run of January and February tour dates to keep them warm this winter. The tour, in support of their album “Come Of Age” which was released earlier this year, will kick off the first of 12 shows on January 29 in Boston and will visit cities such as New York, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis and Denver before wrapping up February 15 in San Francisco.

With plans to tour the United Kingdom this November in various cities, The Vaccines are already looking toward 2013. The band announced plans to play in front of their largest audience to date next year on May 2 at the 20,000 seat capacity O2 Arena in London.

The Vaccines have announced they will tour the UK this November, in support of their sophomore album, Come of Age, which is slated for release on September 3. The tour will begin on November 15 at Pavilions in Plymouth, and make its way to London, Manchester, Liverpool, and Glasgow, to name a few cities. It wraps up on November 30 at the O2 Academy Bournemouth in – you guessed it – Bournemouth. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 31, at 9 a.m.

Although they only formed in 2010, The Vaccines have seen more success than some bands achieve in their entire careers. They got their start after uploading a demo song to YouTube, and by 2011 were signed to a deal with Columbia Records. Their debut album, What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?, was released in 2011 and peaked at No. 4 on the UK Album Chart. The band has stated that their music pulls influences from ’50s rock n’ roll to 80s American hardcore, and the 5-piece band is often compared to the Ramones and The Strokes.
