The 23rd annual benefit concert for Tibet House will take place at Carnegie Hall on February 21. The Tibet House was founded in 1987, by Columbia University professor Robert Thurman, actor Richard Gere and composer Philip Glass. It was initially organized in New York City, and it’s still based there at 22 West 15th Street. Its purpose stands to present West Tibet’s ancient traditions of art and culture by means of creating a permanent cultural center. Through this cultural center, Tibet’s artwork, history, research, and heritage are preserved and able to be explored by the outside world.
