UPDATE: ACM Lineup

The lineup for Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night, sponsored by ACM, has started to take shape and it features names that you would expect as well as one name that can be filed in the unexpected category. Set to take place on April 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the show will have country heavyweights Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, country/pop superstar Taylor Swift and R&B star Ne-Yo.

Ne-Yo is the interesting addition but it should be stated that the two artists have worked together before. According to Pollstar, “the R&B artist first teamed with the country star when the two of them appeared in a Nashville-style songwriting session a few years ago.”

UPDATE: ACM Celebration

Tim McGraw is set to be celebrated by the Academy of Country Music before his new headlining tour kicks off on May 2 in Birmingham (see below for details). The special event, called “ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night,” will take place on April 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas while McGraw is in the middle of his residency with wife, Faith Hill.

The event will feature McGraw and as Pollstar describes “his hand-picked choices from country, pop, rock and more in a two hour galaxy of stars shindig that fans will talk about long after the final curtain drops.” The event will also be televised on CBS later in the year for those who can’t be there in person. The exact list of performers have yet to be revealed.

He’s the inspiration behind Taylor Swift’s debut single; plays Sandra Bullock’s husband in The Blind Side; and supports his country siren wife, Faith Hill, in real life – Tim McGraw, that good ole’ fashioned ladies’ man, is striking out on tour this spring. The charismatic singer will kick off his Two Lanes of Freedom tour in Birmingham, AL, on May 2, keeping the tunes coming, the beer flowing and the fans shrieking for “Live Like You Were Dying” for three solid months. The concert series’ final date, on July 27, will see Mr. McGraw bowing out to what we can only imagine will be a sold-out house in Virginia Beach, VA.

Coming along for the ride and the audience adoration, Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft will act as support for all dates. No venues have been announced yet, a move calculated to increase the hype surrounding the announcement of on-sale dates.

McGraw has partnered with Tumblr for a new fan-driven initiative – “Fanticipation,” aptly enough – in which the singer will personally contact one fan in each city on his Two Lanes of Freedom tour, giving him or her (and only that person!) an exclusive tip regarding the on-sale dates for tickets in the fan’s hometown. The lucky recipient will then be charged with sharing the ticketing scoop on his/her personal Tumblr, thereby ensuring only the most diehard of Tim Mcgraw fans receive his on-sale info first.

A pretty tricky social-media move (and secondary-market evasion?) on Team McGraw’s part. For more information on how to become the singer’s intermediary (the person who talks to Tim, and announces on-sale dates) check out McGraw’s Tumblr here.
