TLC Announce Album, Film & Tour Plans for 2013
It took a few months, but they’re officially here: The first set of TLC reunion tour dates! The ladies have revealed their plans to attend VH1’s Mixtape Festival this July, an event that also boasts Train, New Kids On The Block, One Republic, and (yes!) Hanson. Although no solo concert itinerary has been announced yet, TLC’s festival appearance may mark the first stop on a potential – and promised – international tour.
One of the big, much-hyped decisions T-Boz and Chili will have to contend with as they head out on the festival/concert circuit, is whether or not they’re comfortable performing alongside a hologram of TLC’s deceased third member, Left Eye. The issue was first raised after Coachella last year, when a hologram of Tupac generated a deafening amount of buzz. Said T-Boz: “We’re trying to work out to see if we can really deal with that…You have to stand next to that person and you know she’s not there, and that’s really emotional…It’s easy for people on the outside to say, ‘that would be dope’…but emotionally I don’t know.”
Whatever their decision, TLC can count on their fans’ support, 100%. Tickets for their shows aren’t available yet, but be sure to keep checking back here as we keep rolling out the TLC updates – and, eventually, a list of discount links!

While we continue to wait for tour-dates news, here’s a recent announcement sure to – at least partially – satisfy TLC devotees: Production on the VH1 biopic, Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story, is well underway, with producers having wrapped casting on the film’s three leading ladies. Lil Mama (of “Lipgloss” fame) will tackle the role of Left Eye, Drew Sidora (Step Up) that of T-Boz, and Keke Palmer (cute-little-girl-turned-even-cuter-lady from Akeelah and the Bee) has been tapped to channel Chili.
Filming is scheduled to begin next month in the girls’ hometown of Atlanta, GA.
Ten years after releasing what, at the time, the ensemble believed to be their last album, T-Boz and Chilli of ’90s super girl-group TLC will step back in the studio for a new release. The duo revealed plans for a 2013 effort at the Mobo Awards in Liverpool, where they also announced their intent to executive produce a biopic of their lives – and head out on tour.
After bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes tragically died in a Honduran car accident back in 2002, the remaining members of TLC decided they would release the trio’s unfinished album, 3D, and then call it a day, preferring to neither replace nor continue on without Left Eye. Now, however, a decade after Lopes’ death, T Boz and Chilli have reconsidered the best way to honor their friend: choosing to record, tour and tell the story of the group’s bumpy rise to fame via a VH1-produced film. Rumors have been circulating about a possible holographic “appearance” by Left Eye on TLC’s upcoming tour, in the vein of the Tupac projection that excited and creeped out the crowd at Coachella this past summer. The ladies themselves have yet to confirm this, however, but be sure to check back here when they do give the official stamp of approval to 2013 tour dates!
