Toby Keith Tour 2013: Hammer Down Tour

One of the most popular, and controversial, country crooners of the past several decades has announced summer and fall tour dates. Toby Keith will be joined by Kip Moore on his Hammer Down tour, which kicks off in June and includes stops in the South and Midwest through early August. The end of the month will see Keith and opener Moore traveling along the Eastern seaboard, at which point select Northern cities will host the all-Americana acts until their finale performance in Indianapolis, IN, on September 7.

Keith is responsible for several pop-cultural benchmarks of the ’90s and early ’00s, including the song “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” (the most-played country track of the ’90s); a feud with Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks over his hit “Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue,” during which Maines accused Keith of making country music “sound ignorant,” Keith responded by projecting doctored images of Maines alongside Saddam Hussein during his concerts, and Maines retaliated by wearing an “FUTK” shirt at the Academy of Country Music Awards; and this song, which led to this “Glee” number (hey, it’s a compliment).

Most recently, Keith released his 16th studio album, Hope on the Rocks, in 2012. Although the wildly successful songwriter/family man (and occasional actor) has revealed the full list of dates and cities on his Hammer Down tour, specific venues have yet to be announced.
