Tool to Tour the West Coast
An oldie (but a goodie), Los Angeles-based hard rockers Tool have just confirmed a mini West Coast tour. Kicking off March 4 at Spokane, WA’s Spokane Arena, the band will play a series of shows in Portland, OR at Moda Center; Eugene, OR at the Matthew Knight Arena; Reno, NV at the Reno Events Center; and two shows in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Tickets for this run go on sale this Saturday, January 25.
Formed in 1990, Tool’s lineup has steadfastly included guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan (Justin Chancellor replaced original bassist Paul D’Amour in 1995). Defined as metal or alternative metal, their sound is a mix of progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and art rock. Tool‘s debut album, Undertow, was released in 1993, and their most recent album, 10,000 Days, dropped in 2006. They’ve also picked up three Grammy Awards in their 25-year tenure. Tool has always had a fraught relationship with the music industry, as the band is very focused on avoiding censorship and keeping their own private things, well, private. However, they’ve continued to tour despite the lack of a new album.
