Top 10 Rock Bands

You’ve jammed out on your favorite video game system, laying the sick riffs of “Freebird” or the opening drum solo of “Hot for Teacher.” The top rock bands in history have a mix of charisma, talent, and good fortune when it comes to writing and producing the best songs. All of those things can be elevated by live stage presence, unique concepts for the best albums and tours, and timing with regards to generational and/or cultural shifts. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were part of the British Invasion, and Led Zeppelin, Cream, and Jimi Hendrix helped evolve the electric guitar experience.

Most lists of top 10 rock bands you’ll come across are littered with bands from the 60’s and 70’s. We’ll leave some of the arena rock and hair metal bands of the 80’s for another time, so what more modern bands have a case to make for being of that caliber? Grunge staples Nirvana and Pearl Jam would certainly have a case. Both Metallica and Green Day could have cases, too, inspiring plenty of bands who came after them to make quite different, though equally important, kinds of rock music. What kind of rock bands do you gravitate to? Who makes your top 10 rock bands list? State your case in the comments, and let us know if you’ve seen the next great rock band in concert recently.
