The first month of the year is almost over, and we’re going strong with some great music in Houston. There’s a pretty eclectic variety of genres, which means there’s definitely a concert for everyone.
From ITZY to Machine Head, here are the top concert events in Houston this week.
ITZY @ Revention Music Center
Wednesday, January 22 | 8PM
Is there a better way to break up the mundane work week than a KPOP girl group? I think not. This Wednesday, you can see ITZY perform at the Revention Music Center. ITZY is a newer group, but that doesn’t mean that their music isn’t great. Their songs are trendy, high energy, and really fun to dance to. You should absolutely grab tickets to this show and check them out before they get even more famous. Then you can be one of those people who say: “I saw ITZY before they were popular.” Everyone loves that kind of person.
Roddy Ricch @ Warehouse Live
Friday, January 24 | 8PM
Start your weekend off right with Roddy Ricch performing at Warehouse Live. Roddy’s hit single, The Box, tops the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts which means it’s definitely worth getting tickets to watch him perform. His more mainstream songs have a perfectly balanced mixture of rap, R&B, and instrumental beats to keep you vibing to his music all night. You should absolutely snag tickets to this show and have a good Friday night with Ricch.
Dwight Yoakam @ Arena Theatre
Thursday, January 23 | 9PM
If you’re more of the country fan, get some tickets to see Dwight Yoakam this Thursday night. Originally from Kentucky, his country music is definitely more old school. It honestly makes me feel like square dancing, but in a good way if that’s even possible. He’s obviously doing something right since he’s been actively performing since the 80s. Take the night off from your yuppie life and get ready for a honky-tonk kind of night. City folks just don’t get it.
RIOT @ Stereo Live Houston
Thursday, January 23 | 10PM
Looking for a more EDM/Dubstep style of night? Look no further and grab tickets to see RIOT at Stereo Live Houston this Thursday. RIOT blends traditional dance and electronic music with dubstep beats to bring some high energy sounds and pretty fantastic drops. This would be a pretty amazing concert to see for a Thursday night, especially if you like EDM music. It’s almost impossible to not dance while listening to one of their songs. I tried earlier and it just wasn’t happening.
Miniature Tigers @ White Oak Music Hall
Friday, January 24 | 8PM
This Friday, let’s enjoy a little bit of some indie music with Miniature Tigers at the White Oak Music Hall. If you’re at all into indie music, and you don’t know Miniature Tigers, I promise you will by the time they start their first song. They have a way of combining synth pop, indie rock, and dream pop in a way that will make you think you’re in a coming-of-age indie film. Their music will put a little pep in your step and a smile in your face, so grab some tickets and enjoy a more relaxed night than these other events.
Machine Head @ House of Blues Houston
Wednesday, January 22 | 7PM
Everyone needs a little bit of heavy metal mid week, I think. It really should be mandatory to help wake you up from the doldrums of work. You can start with Machine Head this week at the House of Blues Houston! If you’re looking for music to remind you of your teen angst phase that you may or may not have outgrown, you need to watch Machine Head perform. Their music is actually guaranteed to make you head-bang and feel angry, but in a good way.
Wale @ House of Blues Houston
Sunday, January 26 | 7PM
End your weekend with some Wale at the House of Blues Houston. Wale is an American Rapper with music that mixes hip-hop, and hints of R&B that is actually really nice to listen to. His music almost has an old school vibe I think a lot of hip-hop fans would really enjoy.
