February ’13 Update

According to Trey Anastasio’s official website, the musician will be performing with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, D.C. This will be a one-time-only performance in which the artist will collaborate with the orchestra to perform classic Phish songs as well as solo material. Ummm, this sounds like it’s going to be incredibly awesome. Who says hippies don’t have a taste for the finer things in life? Tickets for the event will be on sale Friday, February 15, and range from $36 – 85.

January ’13 Update

Our boy Trey has been keeping busy. First, last year was chock full of tour dates for his main band, Phish. Next, he filled his time off from the jam band with dates for his solo band, including a summer tour and recent winter shows which included a stop at the Capital Theatre. If that weren’t enough, the Trey Anastasio Band have announced a short leg of West Coast tour dates, including two nights at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, Calif. After embarking on a successful solo tour this fall, Trey Anastasio will continue performing into the new year. The Phish frontman plans to round out 2012 with a series of shows in December (one of which includes a stint at Madison Square Garden with his Phish jam-bandmates for New Year’s Eve) before hitting up North American venues throughout January. Phish frontman and modern-day rock God, Trey Anastasio, has announced a fall tour and a new album. The album, titled Traveler, will be released on October 16 (although you can hear the first single, “Scabbard,” on August 21) and includes guest appearances from The National and Mates of State.

The tour will kick off on October 18, hitting up nine cities in 11 days. While folks on the West Coast won’t get to share in the groove, those residing in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic will get the chance to quell their Phish cravings by checking out a gig or two. The string of shows will begin in Detroit, moving through cities such as Chicago, Columbus and Richmond. On October 26, Trey will play a show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, and the following day will be at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. The tour wraps up on October 28 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.

Although Trey Anastasio has been musically involved in several bands including Oysterhead and Trey Anastasio Band (the moniker with which he will be touring), he’s best known for his work in the prolific jam band Phish. Phish formed in 1983, when the four-piece band met as students at the University of Vermont. Through years of relentless touring the band cultivated a massive following, selling out arenas such as Madison Square Garden regularly.
