Umphrey’s McGee Tour

Umphrey’s McGee is gearing up for a busy 2014, as they have just announced plans for their first tour of the new year. Following their two-night stint at New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre on January 17 and 18, the band hits the road for two months of shows. They’ll play gigs in Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN; Detroit, MI; Syracuse, NY, and Norfolk, VA, to name a few. They’ve also just announced the second leg of dates which sees them in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre for three nights, plus a slew of West Coast performances. Pre-sale for these dates starts Friday, October 25 at 12:00 noon CT, and the general on-sale will begin on November 1. Pick up some tickets and start your New Year off with some great tunes!

Originally from South Bend, IN, Umphrey’s McGee is known for their “progressive improvisation,” sometimes referred to as “improg.” Though they’re considered to be jam band artists (like Phish and String Cheese Incident), their music is actually more influenced by progressive rockers like Genesis, Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd. With seven studio albums under their collective belt, Umphrey’s McGee likes to experiment with various genres such as jazz, funk, bluegrass and folk.
