Veruca Salt is BACK!! Announces Tour with Original Lineup
Good things come to those who wait. And fans of early 90s alt-rock group Veruca Salt have waited long enough for a reunion of its original members. The group has announced that, following the release of a limited edition vinyl featuring new music, they’ll be going on tour. The first show is in Portland, OR, on June 22, followed by a brief run through the Pacific Northwest and down through California, with shows at the Independent in San Francisco on June 26 and the Roxy in LA on June 27. From there its on through the Midwest to Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati on July 11 and a show in their hometown of Chicago on July 12. The band will eventually make their way east with gigs in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Bowery Ballroom in New York and Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, before finishing up at Brighton Music Hall in Boston on July 26.
Taking their name from the spoiled brat in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Veruca Salt found almost immediate success with the release of their first single “Seether,” which would eventually lead to a gold album and a popular video on MTV. Propelled by probably one of the most competitive song-writing duos in rock history, Nina Gordon and Louise Post, Veruca Salt managed to produce two full-length albums with its founding lineup until only Post was the last remaining original member in the group (which put out two more albums and two EPs). In March of 2013, the band announced on Facebook that all the original members, including Gordon, Post, drummer Jim Shapiro and bassist Steve Lack, were back together.
