Wells Fargo Center Concerts

Wells Fargo Center, home of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers, opened back in 1996 and is located within the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, which also includes Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, and Xfinity Live!

The venue has seen quite its share of big name concerts come through its doors. According to Wikipedia, a private concert by Ray Charles was the first event at the venue, with a crowd of nearly 12,000. Each spectator was given a commemorative key acknowledging they helped “open the arena”. The inaugural concert, on September 2, 1996, featured Oasis, with The Manic Street Preachers and The Screaming Trees, before an estimated crowd of 12,000.

Other big names that have played there include Billy Joel, who has sold out Wells Fargo Center a record 18 times as well as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

This spring and summer, the acts coming to Wells Fargo Center include: Fleetwood Mac on April 6; New Kids On The Block on June 15; Bruno Mars on June 24; One Direction on June 25; Eagles on July 16; Justin Bieber on July 17 and Beyonce on July 25.
