Wino Announces New Round of Tour Dates With Clutch
Scott “Wino” Weinrich, the guitarist of doom metal, has announced a string of North American tour dates in which he will act as support for rockers Clutch. The tour takes place the last week of December, kicking off on the 26th at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. The troupe of metal-heads will then move through through the South and up to Ohio, before wrapping things up on the East Coast with a New Year’s Eve show in Worcester, MA, at The Palladium.
Wino has been performing as a singer/songwriter and guitarist since 1976, when he began in the prolific heavy metal group War Horse. Since that time he’s been involved in over 10 bands all within the metal genre, including Dave Grohl’s project “Probot.” Wino began his solo career in 2009, with the release of his album Punctuated Equilibrium, and has since released two more acoustic albums. Although his latest solo work reflects a more stripped-down, “stoner rock” sound, Wino has been credited with developing the trademark sounds of doom metal.
